Regional Efforts

The FRN is leading project called United in Prevention,a sixteen county initiative to reduce substance abuse in each community. The FRN has received funding through the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SAPT).  The funding is focused toward prevention efforts throughout the sixteen counties in Region One. Each county's substance abuse prevention coalition receives a sub-grant to carry out proven prevention strategies within their own communities.

Using the Strategic Prevention Framework, the FRN's UP Project specifically targets the issues of underage alcohol and tobacco use, as well as prescription drug abuse in both youth and adults between the ages of 35 and 54.

This cooperative effort is the first of its kind to mobilize these counties in a unified force working for capacity development and the implementation of evidence-based substance abuse prevention programs and practices. The UP Project is a testament that the efforts of the FRN are leading the way not only in Marshall County, but also in neighboring counties.
