Sunday, Sept. 5

Dog Obedience Class at Grand Vue Park. Class will be held in the Pool Clubroom. Class for puppies will be held at 1 p.m., class for dogs will be held at 2 p.m. Training will be conducted by Wendy Murphy. For more details click here.

Friday, Sept. 10

Marshall County Anti-Drug Coalition  Monthly Meeting, Noon, Historic Federal Building, 324 7th St., Moundsville.

Saturday, Sept. 11

Gospel Sing at Riverfront Park from 2 to 8:30 p.m. There will also be a special September 11th memorial at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Bring your own lawn chair! Refreshments will be sold. Sponsored by the Ash Avenue Church of God Men of Action.

Stand Up Concert Featuring Coaltrain at the Strand Theatre. Concert begins at 6:30 p.m. with "10 Finger Orchestra & J-Rab", featuring the Guinness Book of World Records fastest drummer. Coaltrain will take the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets for the event are $10 and are available at the Marshall County Chamber office, Frames & Fortunes, Goin' Postal, Bayer Heritage FCU, Perkins Restaurant and The Landing. Tickets will also be sold at the door. All proceeds benefit the Strand Theatre's renovation.

Wednesday, Sept. 15

Community Dinner Committee Meeting, 6 p.m. at Grand Vue Park's Banquet Hall. Once again Grand Vue Park is planning a Community Thanksgiving Dinner. The park is looking for volunteers to help plan the event, organize volunteers and gather donations of food and supplies. Anyone interested in helping can call 304-845-9810.

Saturday, Sept. 25

National Prescription Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Drug Enforcement Administration will be collecting dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction at several sites in Marshall County. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26

Elizabethtown Festival- A commemorative heritage event held within the walls of the former West Virginia Penitentiary. Patrons will enjoy exhibits such as woodcarving, painting, butter churning, basket making, quilting and more. There will also be games and contests for kids. Admission for adults is $3, children 6-12 is $1 and there is no charge for children under 6. For more information call 304-845-6200.

Craft Fair at the Grand Vue Park Banquet Hall. Event will be held from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors are still needed for the event. To reserve your space call 304-845-9810.

Monday, Sept. 30

Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex Lecture Series - The Jackpot Rockshelter Mystery, Grave Creek Mound auditorium. Admission is free. For more information click here.

Family Dinner Night sponsored by the Healthy Families Healthy Children Coalition and the WVU Extension Service. Held at Grand Vue Park from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $5 per family. You must pre-register and pre-pay by September 23. For more information call 304-843-1170.

West Virginia Penitentiary's Dungeon of Horrors begins in October. Be introduced to one of the scariest places behind bars, experiencing the fright of being locked up in a cell, the fear of being lost in a maze and the terror of an eerie walk through the dungeon of horrors.
